The start of the high school rowing season is approaching fast, so start spreading the word! There will be posters going up around the school in a little less than a month, but for return rowers and parents, here is some information to digest between now and then.
The Parents Orientation/Pre-Season Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 26th at 7PM in the library. Winter Training will start on Hallowe’en morning at 6:30AM.
NOTE: Anyone rowing the Fall season at Leander will be given the first week and a half of winter training completely off. They will then be restricted to base fitness training, technique training, cross training and weights until December 1 (no training ergs). REMEMBER THIS: The obvious, most important key to success is the work ethic to train as hard as you can. HOWEVER… if you ignore any of the associated components to training (nutrition, proper rest, flexibility training, avoiding over-training), you can be the most dedicated athlete in the world and it’s not going to make a darn bit of difference.
Looking forward to the upcoming season!!! We made four finals and won 1 medal last year, but we were REALLY close to having three medals and making a few more finals, being one placing away in a number of races. We are building something really cool here, and I’m SOOOO looking forward to seeing what we all can achieve together!
