FORTINO’S FUNDRAISER SCHEDULE

Here is the schedule for the Fortino’s Fundraiser on Saturday, April 15th, which is the Saturday of Easter weekend.  I have enlisted the help of a few Westdale Rowing Alumni to help us out, so it should be a busy, fun and hopefully successful fundraiser for us!

You will be helping to bag groceries, as well as spending a bit of time on the erg.  We will rotate everybody thru the erg during your shift–it works out to something like 15 minutes per person on the erg.  The key for this is to look FOCUSED and TECHNICALLY SOLID, WITHOUT SWEATING!!!!  Nobody wants a sweaty athlete just coming off the erg to be handling their groceries!!!!!!!!!!

There are three shifts below.  I will add in our alumni as soon as I get confirmation.  Three can’t make it, but are busy creating our collection buckets!!

10AM-12:45PM:  Serena, Sequoia, Charlotte, Fiora, Ciara, Ethan, Alex, Lauren, Vic, Kenzie

12:45PM-3:30PM:  Kat, Susan, Meegan, Maura, Maddy, Gillian, Shayda, Molly, Zaiga, Kate M, Julia

3:30PM-6PM:  Meaghan, Becca, Erik, Lucas, Harrison, Kieran, Sadie, Ben, Luke Gadsdon, Ella, Meegan (doing double duty, but possibly may not have to–TBA)

LEANDER BOAT CLUB MEMBERSHIP/ROWING CANADA MEMBERSHIP/WESTDALE ROWING FEE

This is a long post, but VITAL that you read it.  The time has come to register for our spring rowing season!  There are three steps you need to follow.  Two of those MUST be completed by March 31st and need to be done together. THIS IS A HARD DEADLINE SET BY ROWING CANADA–YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE WATER, NOR WILL YOU BE ELIGIBLE TO RACE AT ANY SPRING HIGH SCHOOL REGATTA IF THIS IS NOT COMPLETED BY MARCH 31.

Step 1 is to join Leander Boat Club.  There are numerous options for you, outlined below, depending on whether you are rowing Spring only, Spring + Summer, or Spring + Summer + Fall, which is ‘Full season’.  For coxies, there are two options:  Spring only, or Full season.  If you aren’t sure, you don’t have to decide right away—there is an option to upgrade later on, but note that the upgrade option winds up costing a bit more than if you decide now—it’s like an “Early Bird option”.  Please remember what you have signed up for so I can confirm with the club, that you are eligible to row next Saturday.

ROWER/COXIE OPTION 1
This is for any rowers/coxies who are rowing ONLY THE HIGH SCHOOL SEASON and do NOT plan on rowing Summer and/or Fall. That fee is $259.90 and can be paid online. Here’s how to do it:

1. Go to regattacentral.com
2. Type in “Leander BC” in the search bar top left.
3. Click on “Programs and Classes” (second from the bottom)
4. Choose “High School Season” ($259.90) and follow the instructions from that point on.

ROWER OPTION 2
This option is for rowers who wish to row both Spring High School and Summer Leander Junior Program. This fee is $682. There is an advantage to deciding early, whether you wish to row in the summer. Taking this “early bird” option would be $83 cheaper than getting a membership upgrade in May or June. If you choose this option, here’s how to do it:

1. Go to regattacentral.com
2. Type in “Leander BC” in the search bar top left.
3. Click on “Memberships” (top option)
4. Choose “Junior Spring and Summer” ($682) and follow the instructions from that point on.

ROWER OPTION 3
This option is for rowers who wish to row the full season (Spring High School/Summer Leander/Fall Leander). The junior full year membership is $796 and again, is a cheaper “early bird” option than getting a separate spring membership, then upgrading to summer and fall later on.

1. Go to regattacentral.com
2. Type in “Leander BC” in the search bar top left.
3. Click on “Memberships” (top option)
4. Choose “Junior Full Year” ($796) and follow the instructions from that point on.

COXIE OPTION
This option is for coxies who wish to continue on to the summer/fall seasons. That amount is $273, which is $13.10 more than the spring high school amount of $259.90.

1. Go to regattacentral.com
2. Type in “Leander BC” in the search bar top left.
3. Click on “Memberships” (top option)
4. Choose “Junior Coxie” ($273) and follow the instructions from that point on.

Once step one is completed, it’s time for Step 2.  You need to register or renew with Rowing Canada.  This doesn’t cost anything.
1. Go to https://membership.rowingcanada.org
2. Click on “Register/Join”
3. Click on “Join a Program”
4. In “Province/State” box, click Ontario. In “Organization” box, click Leander Boat Club.
5. Click the red “Join” box that you just registered for on RegattaCentral.com. YOU MUST MATCH YOUR CHOICE WITH WHAT YOU PAID FOR AT REGATTACENTRAL!
6. You will then be taken to a page where you either create a new account if you are a novice, or log in if you are renewing. Follow any further steps they ask for (I wasn’t able to get past this step, so I don’t know what they need).

The final step is to pay your Westdale rowing fee of $40.  This is payable to Westdale Rowing by May 1.

Any questions, please ask or e-mail me.  Please take care of steps one and two as soon as possible.  There were bugs in the system last year and March 31st was not a fun day!
