Leander BC (our host rowing club), is having its annual “Holiday Cheer Stair Run” on Sunday, December 10th at Chedoke Stairs from 8:30-10. Come ready to run dressed as your favourite character–all Santa/Elf hats welcomed and appreciated! It will also give you a chance to meet rowers from other schools, with whom you may be rowing in the summer if you decide to row for the club!
The next 3-week cycle of our training program will be coming out this week and will run from December 11-December 31. We will finish all testing, and then start video erg sessions. I’m going to try to get all our video sessions done before the holidays. There won’t be another testing WEEK before the holidays, but we’ll do a 2K for experienced rowers and a 2500 metre for novices on the last day before the break (December 22nd), so we know where you sit. This will be the first “real” erg test for the novices–while I took numbers from the last one, I considered it a ‘practice test’. Experienced rowers will be happy to note that there will be no 6K test before the break.
Over the holidays, we will be arranging some group sessions at Leander. Please do your best to attend these, as there is nothing worse than letting your training lapse and then coming back in January and starting back up! If you are unable to join us, PLEASE go for a 40′ run on your own on training days.
