At most, we have 8 practices left. I’ll be having various quick meetings tomorrow with the women to let you know what CSSRA crews you’re in. Mike will likely be doing the same on Wednesday morning.
This next period is what is known as “The Taper”, where we put less mileage on and more short, sharp pieces. Expect to be doing a LOT of starts in the next week and a half, as well as a bunch of shorter pieces where we’re simulating the finish of a race by lifting the rating towards the finish. We should be able to get a lot better at our first 250 metres of races!
WOMEN WORKOUT: Each time we get to Carol’s Point and to the top of the slip, we will do a start and whatever remains until we turn around with the rating pushing 40spm the whole way.
15 x STARTS (no rest in between these) (half, half, three quarters, full, let it run, blades off the water and balance the boat, drop the blades to the water as soon as the first blade touches the water.
15 x starts + 5 no layback (10 seconds rest in between these)
15 starts + 5 no layback, 5 to add layback (20 seconds rest in between these)
10 x starts + 5 + 5 + 10 to hold (30 seconds rest in between these)
5 x starts + 5 + 5 + 10 (these should all be 40spm or higher) + next 10 to find race rating of 36
