Updates to Ontario Ergometer Championships Details!!!!!!!

Waiver Forms

There are two waiver forms that need to be signed off by Parents or Guardians.   One is for the school board and the other is for the regatta itself.     You must have both forms signed off to race.   I cannot sign them, only parents and guardians.

School Board Forms – These are Mandatory

The school board forms I have.  Please see me first thing on Saturday morning and have your parent or guardian sign it.     If your parent won’t be there Saturday morning than send me an email at headcoach@westdalerowing.com.   I’ll find some way to get you the form on Friday.

If you do not have parental signatures than you cannot race as Westdale.

 Regatta Form:

Everyone under the age of 18 needs to have a parent or guardian sign a waiver form for this weekends ergometer race.  The form can be found at:

https://www.regattacentral.com/regatta/waiver.jsp?job_id=6771&org_id=0

Please print it, have it signed and bring it with you Saturday morning.

Heat Sheet Draw

Posted at: https://www.regattacentral.com/cms/uploads/ridley_graduate_boat_club/files/2020%20Ontario%20Ergometer%20Draw.pdf

Please read and make sure you know exactly what time your race is.  Plan on being there at least one hour prior to your race.  Slightly earlier if you are weighing in.  Leave ample time for hydration, nourishment, and warming up.

Directions

Ridley College is in St. Catharines, Ontario – with easy access from the QEW or Highway 406.

Coming from the west on the QEW, take the 406 exit, and then exit at Fourth Avenue, and turn right at the top of the ramp.  Move to the left lanes and turn left at the 2nd traffic light, onto Louth Street.  (Small shopping malls on either side). Ridley College is on your left after the 2nd traffic light.  Turn left just before the train tracks, onto Ridley Road.  Entrance to the school is on the left.

From the east, exit to the 406 and follow the above directions to the venue.

Parking can be on campus (please not on the grass) or in the local neighborhood.

Entries for Ontario Championships

I need everyone to send me an email on whether you are racing at the Ontario Championships on Saturday February 29th.

Email me at headcoach@westdalerowing.com and no other address.

Please do this by Wednesday evening.

I need the following details:

Yes I am racing, or no I am not racing.

If racing I need the category you are racing. This means Junior or Senior plus the weight class. An added nice to have is the event number. Look on Regatta Central.

I will do the race entries.

Well I am very embarrassed!!! The fundraiser is Sunday!

I am truly embarrassed. Turns out that Fortinos had us down to do the fundraiser on Sunday. This will be Sunday Feb. 16th between 12 to 6.

However, for those of you that were planning on helping out the student council, well don’t go on Saturday . No one will be there.

There are still plans to do this 12 to 6 on Sunday. So if you want to go out than do so.

However, email Mrs. Gitting. sgitting@hwdsb.on.ca. if you are planning on attending.

Status of Westdale Rowing

I’m sure some of you have heard rumours about the status of Westdale Rowing and here is the official position.

The board is allowing us to continue as a sanctioned indoor sport. We can continue to train and race for the indoor season. In addition, during the indoor season we can also fund raise under the Westdale moniker.

There will not be a board sanctioned Westdale outdoor team. This means that for the outdoor training and racing season it will not be under Westdale. The logistics of how an outdoor season will be conducted needs to be worked out. The details will be posted when they are defined.

We need to refocus our attention training on Monday and get prepared for the two upcoming indoor races and push towards April 1st.

As of April 1st we won’t be Westdale.

Indoor Training can resume

We’ll be resuming our training on Monday. There is a lot of ground to make up so let’s come prepared.

One change is that we are good to train 5 days per week. So add Wednesday to your alarm clock. The extra day will be good for us.

I’ll make one suggestion in that we alternate the Wednesday sessions along Men Women lines. So next Wednesday will be for the Women. This should give each group additional erg and coaching time.

See you Monday.
