Fees Due Tomorrow & Early Arrival

Hey Westdale,

Just a friendly reminder that indoor rowing fees are due at tomorrow’s training session. If you have not yet paid your fees (which is most of you), then please bring your cheque to tomorrow’s practice. Payment totals are as follows:

Returning Athletes: Indoor Rowing = $80
New Athletes: Indoor Rowing & Unisuit = $165

Please make cheques payable to “Westdale Secondary School Rowing Team” and include the athletes’ name plus “indoor fees” or “indoor & unisuit fees” in the memo section.

If you have any concerns regarding payment, please feel free to contact me or Mike.

Tomorrow’s training will begin at 6:20am, so please arrive at 6:20am sharp & head straight to the school library. You can wear regular school clothes, since the training won’t involve any particularly strenuous exercise.

See you all in the morning,
Alessandra

University Opportunity for Athletes (Grades 11 & 12)

Hi Rowers & Parents,

I’ve just been informed by Steffan Wagner (LBC Club Manager) of a great recruitment opportunity being made available to Hamilton LBC Rowers, which includes all of you as Westdale Rowing athletes:

A University of Western Ontario (UWO) recruiter will be visiting Leander Boat Club on Thursday, January 29th at 4pm in the members’ lounge (second floor). The session will cover the application process, information on the academic programs offered, residence life, student supports, and opportunities to compete athletically at a varsity level.

Regardless of whether you’re looking to row at University, this is a good opportunity to learn more about UWO’s academic programs. If you’re scouting out potential universities in Grade 9/10/11, or are already applying to universities in Grade 12, then this is a chance to speak with recruiters from Western.

If you are looking to row at university, then this session is particularly important. Western is one of the strongest rowing schools in the country – particularly in the heavyweight division, and provides a lot of athlete development opportunities that can lead to a national team career. Many Western rowers have rowed (and currently are rowing) on the Canadian national team.

Both parents and athletes are welcome. Anyone is allowed to intend, though it will likely be most valuable for those in Grades 11 and 12.
